Party Affiliation Deadline:  A candidate who files for a major party office must have been
registered to vote as a member of that political party by September 9, 2021.

Filing Period: Begins September 9, 2021 & ends March 8, 2022 at 5:00pm

Even though September 9, 2021, is the official first day to file for office, due to the delay in
receiving 2020 U.S. Census population data, precinct boundaries will not be finalized by
September 9, 2021. As a result, the precinct associated with candidate’s address may change.
Candidates are encouraged to wait until the precinct boundaries are final before filing.
